Longevity Box: UK longevity supplements and health tests at $75K a month

Longevity Box sells longevity supplements and health diagnostic tests to health-conscious consumers, and its co-founder reported $75K a month in revenue in the September 2023 Starter Story interview.

How it started

Max Way and his wife Caroline launched Longevity Box in February 2021 from Leamington Spa, UK. Max came from a marketing and digital retail background; Caroline is a solicitor. The two had focused on healthy family living for more than 15 years and first encountered longevity science almost a decade before starting the business.

What pulled them in was the science of the biological mechanisms behind ageing — not "anti-ageing" skincare, but understanding how to slow or eventually reverse cellular decline. They were surprised that useful compounds already existed yet were expensive and hard for ordinary consumers to reach, and they saw almost no consumer-facing companies focused exclusively on the space.

Over roughly three years they studied compounds with life-extending properties and the mechanisms that drive them, satisfying themselves that the solutions would be beneficial and safe. They built relationships with a few key suppliers and launched a first range of four products. The stated mission is to help people "be younger, for longer" by developing products that optimise health today and support healthy ageing tomorrow.

What it sells and how it charges

The official website Longevity Box describes the business as a UK-based seller of "Longevity and Health Optimisation Supplements." The product range is organised around three named categories drawn from the site:

  • Targeted Actives — precision compounds for specific longevity goals
  • Advanced Protocols — multi-pathway systems for deeper longevity support
  • Longevity Foundations — daily support products that strengthen the base beneath a supplement stack

The site also lists health diagnostic tests alongside the supplements. Pricing is built on one-time purchases and subscriptions, with products starting from £19.99 (the site shows a Magnesium Complex at £19.99, down from £24.99). Order-level terms shown on the site include free UK shipping on orders over £50, a 60-day money-back guarantee, a 700-day purity guarantee, and third-party batch testing. The site advertises bundle savings of up to 35% and subscribe-and-save savings of up to 25%.

How it got its first customers and what kept growth going

The founders leaned on search and content early. As Max Way put it in the interview: "We have focused on SEO to gain a better presence and work hard to deliver a class-leading customer experience." They also invested in most digital marketing platforms and in Instagram, with an increasing focus on social media.

A subscription model was part of the plan from the start — the name "Longevity Box" reflects it — and remained central to growth, with effort spent converting single-purchase customers into subscribers and keeping them. The Amazon channel became a major sales source after a steep learning curve; the founders used the Fulfilled by Amazon model to earn Prime status and built creative specifically for that channel.

They studied their customers and found the largest cohort was aged 35–50, with more 20-year-olds than expected. That pushed the brand toward a more energetic tone; the strapline moved from "let's grow young" to "Life. Upgraded." At the time of the interview the business was expanding into the USA, investing more in social media, and adding PR as mainstream coverage of longevity grew.

The numbers

  • Monthly revenue: $75K a month, founder-reported in the September 2023 interview, which the founder described as roughly 5%+ month-on-month growth at the time.
  • Founders and team: Two founders (Max Way and Caroline Way) at the time of the interview, with zero employees.
  • Location and start date: Leamington Spa, UK; founded February 2021.
  • Start-up cost: The founder did not state the initial investment in the interview.

These figures are what the founder said at that date and should not be read as current numbers.

How it compares

1M.chat's analysis of founder-reported cases covers 1,997 businesses interviewed by Starter Story between 2015 and 2026 — a self-selected sample of founders who chose to be interviewed, not a random sample of all businesses. Within the Health, fitness & wellness category, 76 businesses reported founder revenue. Against that group:

Metric Longevity Box Category median or share (1M.chat analysis)
Monthly revenue $75K (founder-reported, Sept 2023) $74.5K median
Founders 2 59% of the category started with one founder
Employees 0 at interview 3.0 median
Revenue milestone — 46% of the category reached $1M a year or more

Longevity Box's reported revenue sits close to the category median of $74.5K a month. The category's most-used growth channels, among the 52 businesses that reported channel information, were organic social media (71%), SEO and organic search (48%), paid ads (40%), and word of mouth and referrals (36%). Longevity Box's own mix — SEO, broader digital marketing, Instagram and Amazon — lines up with the category pattern, where organic search and social lead and paid ads trail.

What a founder can take from it

  • Bet on SEO before paid ads. The founder's advice is to invest more money and time in SEO than you think you should, and less in PPC than you think you should.
  • Treat subscriptions as the engine. Designing from the start to convert one-time buyers into subscribers — and to retain them — was central to Longevity Box's repeat revenue.
  • Meet customers on Amazon on its own terms. Use Fulfilled by Amazon for Prime status, and build creative specifically for that channel rather than copying other listings.
  • Build an email list early and a brand voice that is instantly recognisable as yours, so you own the relationship instead of renting it from platforms.
  • Use freelancer marketplaces like Upwork for what you cannot do yourself, but learn how every part of the business works even if you outsource it from day one.
