Smart beehives with remote monitoring, $1.8K a month, self-reported in 2022

Hyper Hyve™ sells insulated smart beehives and remote hive-monitoring technology for beekeepers. Its $1.8K a month was founder-reported on the Indie Hackers product page (not independently verified), as of September 2022.

What it actually sells

Hyper Hyve™ sells insulated smart beehives and remote hive-monitoring technology. Its ProTop monitors hive temperature, humidity, sound, and vibration, while another product tracks weight, temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, and sounds. The system supports remote opening and closing of the hive.

How it charges

The site lists Hyper Hyve Embroidered patches at $14.13, a Unisex eco raglan hoodie at $57.50, a Short Sleeve T-shirt at $26.00, an IND4000 hoodie at $45.00, Golden Bee Women’s Relaxed T-Shirt at $21.50, and Honey Comb Men’s slides at $46.48.

Where customers come from

The company publishes the Hyper Hyve™ Blog and offers an email list for product updates. It accepts campaign support and product pre-orders through Indiegogo, and collects signup information for release dates and studies.

What stands out

The product combines integrated sensors with machine learning. The hive can be opened and closed remotely.

From the official site

ProTop continuously monitors your hive for temperature, humidity, sound, and vibration
Solar-powered and cellular-connected, it works in real apiaries, not just backyards with Wi-Fi.

Where it sits in the data

Hyper Hyve™'s $1.8K a month is higher than 48% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.

Currency

All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.

Could you build something like this?

In my view, demand would come from backyard and sideline beekeepers who need monitoring outside the house. The buyer would be a beekeeper managing hive conditions, and distribution would have to come through beekeeping communities, product launches, and campaign pages.

The hard parts are hardware reliability in outdoor apiaries, cellular connectivity, remote opening and closing, and support when a hive device fails. A new entrant would also face competition from other hive-monitoring products and would need to manage the regulatory and operational requirements of physical equipment.

Verdict: Hard to replicate.

One thing to take from it

Hyper Hyve™ combines an insulated physical product with remote monitoring, sensors, machine learning, and remote hive controls. The visible product range also includes clothing and accessories, with listed prices from $14.13 to $57.50.
