Robin sells chat infrastructure and interface components for developers building messaging features into web and mobile products. Its $5K a month was founder-reported on the Indie Hackers product page (not independently verified), as of January 2023.
What it actually sells
Robin sells chat and messaging APIs, SDKs, and UI kits for web and mobile applications. Its product page says, “Build any chat use case into your product with just a few lines of code.” The stated customers are developers building chat experiences into web and mobile products.
Robin lists SDKs for Vue.js, Flutter, Golang, Python, and Javascript. Its chat features include message reactions, replies, URL previews, presence, groups, delivery status, and AI-powered chat support.

Where it sits in the data
Robin's $5K a month is higher than 58% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.
Currency
All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.
Could you build something like this?
In my view, this needs real work. The buyer is a developer team that needs chat inside a web or mobile product. Demand would come from products that need conversations, reactions, replies, groups, presence, and delivery status.
Distribution would have to come through developer documentation, SDKs, product demos, and direct outreach to teams building chat features. The hard parts include reliable messaging, encryption, SDK maintenance, support load, regulatory requirements, and competition.
Verdict: Needs real work.
One thing to take from it
A developer product can package infrastructure, SDKs, interface components, documentation, and trial access into one product surface. Robin’s product shape groups implementation work around the chat feature itself.
