LocalCan public HTTPS previews, $5K a month, self-reported in 2023
LocalCan exposes localhost through stable public HTTPS URLs for testing webhooks, OAuth, payment callbacks, and live previews. Its $5K a month was founder-reported on the Indie Hackers product page (not independently verified), as of June 2023.
What it actually sells
LocalCan puts localhost on a stable public URL. Developers can use it to test webhooks, OAuth, and payment callbacks, or share a live preview.
The product points services such as Stripe, Clerk, or GitHub at a stable Public URL and shows deliveries in an inspector. It also supports failed-request replay without re-triggering the provider.
How it charges
The product's price could not be identified on the pages we read. LocalCan includes a free 14-day trial, with no credit card required.
Where customers come from
LocalCan provides an MCP server and CLI for AI agents, listing Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor. It also offers installation through Homebrew with “brew install localcan” and a free 14-day trial without a credit card.
What stands out
LocalCan shares localhost previews over HTTPS without a commit, build pipeline, or hosting account. It also publishes snapshots, locks them with a password or secret link, and lets others comment on the page.

Where it sits in the data
LocalCan's $5K a month is higher than 58% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.
Currency
All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.
Could you build something like this?
My view is that this needs real work. The buyer would be developers, SaaS owners, agencies, and designers who need a public HTTPS URL for localhost testing and previews. Distribution would need to come through developer channels and direct product discovery.
The hard parts include reliable public URLs, webhook and OAuth testing, request replay, access controls for snapshots, and support for MCP, CLI, and agent workflows. Competition would matter because developers already have tools for exposing local applications.
Verdict: Needs real work.
One thing to take from it
My view is that the clearest product lesson is to package a specific developer workflow: stable public HTTPS URLs for webhook testing, callbacks, and localhost previews.
