Langua: AI language practice, $97K a month, self-reported in 2022: two plans

Langua provides AI language practice and optional one-to-one online tutoring through subscriptions. Its $97K a month was founder-reported on the Indie Hackers product page (not independently verified), as of February 2022.

What it actually sells

Langua offers AI language-learning practice and one-to-one online language tutoring. Its practice covers conversations with human-like voices, role plays, interest-based discussions, interviews, debates, and grammar points.

How it charges

Langua offers Communicate (Standard) and Unlimited subscriptions. Both plans include all languages and all features, and the site says free trial durations vary by plan. One subscription works across web, iOS, and Android, with progress syncing automatically.

Where customers come from

The site publishes blog articles and language-learning guides. It also lists French, Spanish, and Italian podcasts, a Learn languages with AI section, and a detailed conversations guide explaining features and how to use them effectively.

What stands out

Langua’s AI conversations use human-like voices cloned from native speakers. Practice includes role plays, interest-based discussions, interviews, debates, and grammar points. Feedback provides instant corrections with clear explanations, while saved words are incorporated into flashcards, stories, and conversations.

The site says more than 30,000 learners choose Langua and that the service offers more than 20 languages, with many available in multiple dialects. It also says one subscription works across web, iOS, and Android, with progress syncing automatically.

From the official site

Many learners now combine both: using Langua for daily practice and feedback, while booking tutor sessions for accountability, personalized support, and pronunciation help.

Where it sits in the data

Langua's $97K a month is higher than 87% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.

Currency

All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.

Could you build something like this?

In my view, a comparable product would need demand from language learners who want conversational practice, feedback, and optional human tutoring. The buyer is the individual learner, with tutoring support as an additional part of the same service. Distribution would need to come through language-learning content, app stores, web search, and word of mouth among learners.

The hard parts would include building reliable conversation quality, supporting many languages, handling corrections and progress across devices, and managing tutoring support. Regulation, payment operations, and competition would also matter. My view is that this is a substantial product and service operation rather than a small feature release.

Verdict: Needs real work.

One thing to take from it

Langua combines subscription access to AI language practice with optional one-to-one online tutoring. Its plans cover all languages and features, while the service spans web, iOS, and Android.
