Fix My Speakers: free phone-speaker cleanup, $4K a month, self-reported in 2023
Fix My Speakers is a free browser-based tool for testing and cleaning phone speakers. Its $4K a month was founder-reported on the Indie Hackers product page (not independently verified), as of May 2023.
What it actually sells
Fix My Speakers is a free online tool for ejecting water and dust from phone speakers. “It works on most smartphones with external speakers, including iPhones and Android devices.” The site lists smartphone users with water-obstructed external speakers as its audience.
How it charges
Fix My Speakers charges nothing. Its site says, “Remove water and dust from your phone's speakers for FREE!” The tool runs directly in a web browser, and no app download is required.
Where customers come from
The site says, “77k people have already subscribed” to the newsletter. It also lists a product-update newsletter that announces new features, improvements, and new products, plus a blog post about testing whether a phone speaker is working properly.
What stands out
The web app plays a calibrated tone intended to eject water from a phone speaker: “The app plays a carefully calibrated tone that sets off a process where sound wave transmissions take place.” The site says this usually takes 10-30 seconds and that the process can be repeated if needed.

Where it sits in the data
Fix My Speakers's $4K a month is higher than 56% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.
Currency
All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.
Could you build something like this?
My view is that demand comes from people whose phone speakers are blocked by water and who want a quick browser-based response. The buyer is the smartphone user using the tool directly, while distribution would need to come from search, troubleshooting content, recommendations, and an email list.
My view is that the core utility is straightforward to reproduce, but trust and distribution take real work. Support must address differences among devices, browsers, and speaker conditions. Competition includes other free speaker-testing and device-troubleshooting tools, and any paid version would also need to deal with consumer expectations and privacy requirements.
Verdict: Easy to start.
One thing to take from it
My view is that a focused free utility can pair direct use with an email list and educational content. Fix My Speakers has speaker testing, device-cleaning guidance, and product-update emails listed on its site, alongside the browser tool.
