Filestage proofing software, $333K a month, self-reported in 2023: 20,000+ users

Filestage is software for reviewing, approving, and documenting creative assets. Its $333K a month was reported by the founder in an interview (not independently verified), as of January 24th, 2023.

What it actually sells

Filestage sells online proofing and content governance software for reviewing, approving, and documenting creative assets. Its customers include creative, marketing, production, and compliance teams, as well as agencies and businesses in regulated industries.

Review Agents scan creative assets for errors, brand inconsistencies, and compliance risks. Teams can gather feedback in one place, resolve comments, track approval status, maintain compliance-ready records, add highlights, draw annotations, and record review decisions.

How it charges

Filestage has a free plan for small creative teams. Its paid plans start from $99/month and scale with the size of the team.

Where customers come from

Filestage says it is trusted by 20,000+ people from brands and agencies. It publishes customer success stories and offers a free, non-binding consultation with its experts.

Visible product and distribution signals include integrations with Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zapier, project management tools, messengers, and content creation tools. Business and Enterprise plans provide webhooks and REST API access.

What stands out

Review Agents are a prominent product feature: “Review Agents scan creative assets for errors, brand inconsistencies, and compliance risks before reviewers even start.” Filestage also supports annotations, comment threads, review decisions, approval tracking, and compliance-ready records.

The site quotes one customer saying, “Filestage has reduced our team’s daily email inbox by 25-30%.” A Filestage co-founder has also been developing the product for over 12 years.

Where it sits in the data

Filestage's $333K a month is higher than 95% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.

Currency

All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.

Could you build something like this?

My view is that demand exists around organizing creative review work for creative teams, agencies, marketing teams, production teams, and compliance teams. The buyer would be the team responsible for collecting feedback, recording decisions, and maintaining approval records.

Distribution would need to reach those teams through the places where they already manage projects and communication. Building the product would take real work across review workflows, integrations, permissions, records, and support. Regulated-industry buyers can add compliance expectations, while established workflow and collaboration products create competition.

Verdict: Needs real work.

One thing to take from it

My view is that a focused workflow product can combine a free entry point with paid plans for larger teams, provided the product addresses a specific review and approval process.
