DevRize tech recruiting: $20K a month, self-reported May 14th, 2023
DevRize provides headhunting and recruitment services for tech startups. Its $20K a month was reported by the founder in an interview (not independently verified), as of May 14th, 2023.
What it actually sells
DevRize is a headhunting firm for tech startups, serving companies from Series A to IPO. It recruits across engineering, sales, product, marketing, operations, and leadership.
The service sources candidates, deeply vets them, and matches them with each startup’s needs. Finalists are screened for skills, motivation, and culture fit before DevRize provides offer negotiation support, compensation benchmarking, and candidate preparation.
How it charges
DevRize charges a 20% placement fee. If a hire does not work out within 90 days, DevRize replaces the hire at no cost, according to its website.
Where customers come from
The website asks prospects to book a call or email hire@devrize.com. Prospects can describe an open role and request a fit assessment, with the site stating: “Tell us about the role. We'll share whether we're the right fit — no pressure, no pitch.”
What stands out
DevRize reports a 98% placement success rate and an average time-to-fill under 30 days. One startup testimonial says DevRize filled its first three engineering roles in under a month, matching the site’s stated claim: “DevRize filled our first 3 engineering roles in under a month.”

Where it sits in the data
DevRize's $20K a month is higher than 74% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.
Currency
All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.
Could you build something like this?
In my view, this business needs demand from funded startups with roles they cannot fill through their existing hiring process. The buyer is a startup hiring across engineering, sales, product, marketing, operations, or leadership. Distribution would have to come from direct outreach, referrals, startup networks, and content that reaches company founders and hiring leaders.
The difficult part is building a reliable candidate network and running a high-trust vetting process. Recruiters also need to assess skills, motivation, culture fit, compensation, offers, and candidate preparation. The replacement commitment adds support and delivery work, while established recruiters and recruitment platforms create competition. Any version of this model must handle the operational and regulatory requirements that apply to recruiting services.
Verdict: Hard to replicate.
One thing to take from it
One thing to take from DevRize is the link between a focused buyer and a clearly defined fee: 20% of the placement fee. The service also connects recruiting with vetting, offer support, compensation benchmarking, candidate preparation, and a replacement commitment.
