DataExpert.io Academy: data and AI courses, $56K MRR: all in one
DataExpert.io Academy sells self-paced data engineering and AI courses, mock interviews, platform access, and a Discord learner community. Its $56K MRR is verified through the payment provider's API by TrustMRR (Stripe), as of September 30, 2026.
What it actually sells
DataExpert.io Academy sells data engineering and AI education through self-paced content. Its data engineering curriculum covers Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka, and Flink, while its production AI curriculum covers RAG, agents, MCP, and MLOps.
The All-Access subscription includes all self-paced content, a Discord learner community, and access to Discord, GitHub, AWS, Snowflake, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Databricks. It also includes timed, role-specific mock interviews for SQL, data modeling, system design, and behavioral work.
How it charges
The All-Access DataExpert.io Subscription is listed at $119/mo, with monthly and yearly options. The subscription includes all self-paced content and access to the Discord learner community, plus the listed platform access and mock interviews.

Where customers come from
DataExpert.io Academy offers a free community boot camp for junior data engineers seeking to progress toward senior roles. The first live boot camp offered by Zach Wilson ran in Spring 2023.
Other visible channels include an email newsletter for updates, new content, and special offers; live classes on Discord; book-club and TA sessions on Google Meet; and a showcase of student capstone projects.
What stands out
The product combines self-paced instruction, a Discord community, platform access, and timed mock interviews graded immediately after submission. The mock interviews cover SQL under pressure, data modeling, system design, and behavioral work.
The site says students worked at Meta, Airbnb, and Amazon and achieved 100% raises. It also describes the data engineering curriculum as “the most comprehensive data engineering curriculum on the internet.”

Where it sits in the data
DataExpert.io Academy's $56K MRR is higher than 99% of the 5,602 projects with payment-verified revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $150. Within the “Education” category (517 projects) it is higher than 99% (category median $156). Snapshot: 2026-09-02 to 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.
Currency
All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.
Could you build something like this?
In my view, this is hard to replicate because the buyer is a data engineer or data knowledge worker seeking to upskill, and the product has to cover both technical instruction and role-specific interview practice. Building credible lessons across data engineering, production AI, SQL, data modeling, and system design requires substantial subject-matter work.
Distribution would need to reach those learners through a free boot camp, email, live sessions, and a learner community. The difficult parts are keeping technical content current, delivering immediate interview grading, supporting learners across several platforms, managing live and community sessions, and competing for attention in online education.
Verdict: Hard to replicate.
One thing to take from it
In my view, the transferable idea is to package courses, practice, platform access, and community into one subscription for a clearly defined professional audience.
