Where it sits in the data
Castmill's $8K a month is higher than 64% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.
Currency
All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.
Could you build something like this?
My view is that this needs real work. The buyer would be a company or a growing or enterprise digital signage network that needs a platform for managing players and displaying content. The buyer would need a reason to prefer a dedicated platform for this workflow.
My view is that distribution would have to come through direct sales, demonstrations, documentation and word-of-mouth within digital signage networks. Building the product would require handling player management, media workflows, layouts, widgets, analytics and extensions. Support would add an ongoing load, while digital signage platforms and competing products would shape the commercial challenge.
Verdict: Needs real work.
One thing to take from it
Castmill shows a platform business with a clear three-step workflow, paid plans and a higher-priced Enterprise plan. The free 14-day trial, email and chat support, demos and documentation are visible parts of the offer.
