Where it sits in the data

Boot.dev's $1M a month is higher than 98% of the 6,604 projects with founder-reported monthly revenue in our dataset; the median across them is $2K. Snapshot: 2026-09-30. The dataset only covers founders who chose to publish their numbers, so it leans toward businesses that work; use it for scale, not as an average.

Currency

All figures are in US dollars as published. A rough yuan or euro conversion is not applied here because prices, taxes and acquisition costs differ by country.

Could you build something like this?

My view is that demand would come from beginners and aspiring software developers, data analysts, and DevOps engineers who want structured programming education. Distribution could come from an online community, Discord support, social media, video, and a podcast. The hard parts would include maintaining course quality, supporting learners, and competing for attention in online education.

My view is that building a focused version would require choosing a specific audience and defining a clear learning path. Regulation is not the main challenge described on the site, but educational claims, payment handling, content updates, and learner support would still require sustained operational work. A new product would need to compete on curriculum, projects, and community.

Verdict: Needs real work.

One thing to take from it

Boot.dev combines structured learning paths with hands-on coding lessons, portfolio projects, challenges, an AI mentor, instructor solutions, personalized help, an online community, Discord support, and social media distribution.
